My Best Friend’s Bridal Shower

It’s no secret that I LOVE weddings (planning and attending them). But it goes to a whole other level when I get to be IN a wedding. And then for it to be my best friend’s bridal party?! Not much tops that level of excitement for me.

So when my best friend since the 4th grade got engaged and asked me to be her maid of honor, I couldn’t wait to start planning her bridal shower along with her wonderful mom, sister, and the rest of the 9-member bridal party.

Prior to the U.S. shutting down because of the pandemic, we planned a mid-February event attended by 80 of the closest ladies in her life, including her big Cuban family and many, MANY friends (she is very loved by lots of people!).

We wanted to use a color scheme that was not typical for the winter months that would also be completely different from the colors that were being used for her wedding. With that in mind, we decided on a warm yellow and gold shimmer invitation and incorporated complementary purple and turmeric shades throughout the rest of the décor in the ballroom at The Empire Club where the Northern New Jersey event took place.

Lush velvet and crisp lavender linens made the cake, favor, and escort card tables pop throughout the room, and stationery that matched the invitation tied the scheme together. The paper suite included table seating cards, large menus near each buffet (so you can decide what you want to eat while you are waiting in line!), and signage for her wishing well, favor table, and social media hashtag.

It was really important for us to personalize the event, and we did so by creating a favor table that included samplings of some of the bride’s favorites things: small bottles of her favorite types of wine with coordinating stemless wine glasses, her favorite candy, and mini manicure sets and face masks because she loves going to the spa.

Two types of centerpieces featuring gold accents decorated the tables, and three ombré cakes with gold leaf and fresh flower designs capped off the event.

Here are some of my favorite shots from the day. I hope you enjoy, and I am now counting down the days until we can finally have the reception!
